Laredo Crockett (1954-1967) by Bob Schoenke. One of my favourite western comic strips with a sample from 1954 and one from 1957. Crockett would make a great reprint project. The style makes me wonder if Alex Toth assisted on the artwork. In 1947 Schoenke illustrated the Jack Armstrong All American Boy comic strip.
I believe Laredo Crockett goes back to about Sept. 1950. I have copies of the strip dated back to that period.
ReplyDeleteLAREDO CROCKETT GOES BACK TO JUNE 12 1950 I HAVE STRIPS FROM THAT TIME AS A MATTER OF FACT I HAVE EVERY STRIP PRINTED FROM 12-6-1950 TO JANUARY 27-1968.
ReplyDeleteI remember Laredo Crocket from my childhood in the UK, he appeared in a magazine called Ranger and the stories centered around the bad guy Jubal Kain and his pal Curly Bill, Crocket was a Texas Ranger trying to escort Curly Bill for Trial, Curly Bill had a deringer hidden in his saddle and they were facing snow and an iminant attack from Jubal Kaine.
