Jim Masterson’s It Happened in Montana series ran in fifty-one state newspapers in 1940 and were collected in a pamphlet published at Star Print in Miles City, Montana. A collection of his work is displayed in the Range Riders Museum. A similar historical cartoon of this period ran in the Omaha World Herald, Bygone Nebraska, by Francis "Mike" Parks.
The cartoon of the great boxing match in Shelby (immediately below) reminded me that I had read that the famous Bat Masterson of OK Corral fame ended his days as a boxing promoter. And he had a brother -- Jim Masterson. I posted a few with a Canadian theme to Punch in Canada.
