Cartoonist and illustrator Walter Trier was born in Prague in 1890. Like Leete and Raemaekers, he fled to Britain to escape the fascists and worked on propoganda cartoons and leaflets for the Ministry of Information. His early career was spent on the German caricature magazines Simplicissimus and Jugend. His cartoons livened up the covers of Lilliput regularly from 1949 and Trier ended up in Canada where he produced cartoons and illustrations for Saturday Night and Maclean’s magazines.
