Lee W. Stanley’s The Old Home Town ran from approximately 1934-1944. In the later years of the comic the artwork began to resemble Bill Holman’s. Stanley held the copyright to The Old Home Town which was distributed first by Central Press and then by King Features. More can be found HERE.
I found your blog here by googling "The Old Home Town by Stanley" because I found a comic that was published in the Jackson Citizen Patriot in 1923. I was just wondering where you came up with dates of 1934-1944 for the publication of this comic and if you have any more info about the artist and where he is from.
ReplyDeleteThe dates were based on the earliest and latest samples I found on microfilm. If you found a sample from 1923 no doubt it should read 1923-1944. I could find no other information about the artist or the strip.
