The Girl with the Silver Eyes by Dashiell Hammett, illustrated by Bud Briggs, was serialized in the Vancouver Sun, 21 Nov 1936. Although advertised as a "new detective thriller," the story originally appeared in Black Mask in June 1924, and was the sequel to 'The House on Turk Street' from the April 1924 issue.
