André Castaigne

Since today is Mme. Curie's 144th birthday (or would have been if she hadn't died of radiation poisoning) I thought it would be a swell time to post these images by the great French fine artist and illustrator André Castaigne which illustrated The Wonders of Radium by Cleveland Moffett in McClure's Magazine Vol. XXII November 1903. Castaigne taught many classes in painting and illustration for women at the Baltimore Sketch Club, also a hang-out for cartoonist Claude Eldridge Toles.
