    Thank you for this; I only had part of this article, and needed it. I notice, especially on page 398 of the Handyman laying carpet, that your scanner software does what mine did until I turned off the option: it tries to distinguish line from tone, and converts part of a page into line leaving the rest in halftone. I prefer to adjust the image by hand in order to get consistent results.
