Gabriel Laderman, New Realist painter, teacher at Pratt Institute, and collector of Victorian Era newspapers, caricature and comics, dies at 81. Obituaries are HERE. Above image from HERE. Blogger's responses HERE. Gabriel's own Blog is HERE. Collector and archivist Doug Wheeler has posted a lavishly illustrated heartfelt reminiscence HERE. I had a few long email conversations about caricature with Gabriel, he could be quite intimidating even in a letter. As Lincoln Perry wrote in an essay “He could be so overpowering, his opinions so well informed and thought out, his delivery so articulate and often so loud that you couldn't just ignore him. Of course, his work spoke very clearly for itself, and still does.”
