This is about my eighth post on George Emmett, who wrote boys school stories, westerns, and war yarns. He also wrote a series of nautical tales. The Pirate’s Isle was serialized in 1871 in the Young Briton. The pictures here, cover and interior, are from the Hogarth House edition circa 1881 and the illustrator is Harry Maguire. George Emmett wrote All’s Well and Black Eyed Susan as well. The cover artist on All’s Well may be by John Proctor, the other I think maybe -- Harry Maguire again.
